The virtual lathe
Build your ring, then I turn it.
Choose the species, the blend, the resin and the finish. The preview and the price follow you as you go — nothing is ordered until you add it to your order.
These started because I wanted a ring I could wear while I worked — shop safe and non-conductive, and not another silicone band. I made one for myself and that was going to be it; people kept asking for one, so they went from a single ring to most of what I make. Wood rings are older than metalworking: stone, bone and wood bands have been worn since before recorded history.

The build
Turned from one solid block of hardwood or stabilized stock. All wood, no resin — the grain doing the work.
The wood
Deep chocolate brown, tight grain, very stable. Domestic — bands start at $40.
The fissure
Wood only — grain and finish doing the work.
Profile & finish
A deep wall across a broad face — the most substantial band I make, and the most material to turn away.
Built-up CA finish, deep wet look — the most water-tight of the three, so it stands up to soap and water from day one.
Width & size
Engraving runs on the outside face only — text up to 24 characters, or a simple image like trees, fish or mountains. Send a drawing or a photo with your order and I'll tell you straight away whether it holds at ring scale.
