End grain walnut, maple and cherry, cut so the grain stands on end — kinder to a knife edge, and the board closes back up over time. 12 × 18 in as pictured, with a juice groove and finger holds. Base $150: the builder sets the footprint, the species, handles and the juice groove, and takes it to about $355 at the largest size with an exotic wood.
